Illustration Friday - Lost

I thought I'd try something different this week, using just my drawing pens to complete my sketch. The result doesn't look very satisfactory, and it sure wears out my ink a lot faster than usual.

He looks so frightened and sad with those wide eyes in the scary dark place - well drawn :)

The choice of black and white gives it a whole dimension of lost colour as well as spooky lost in the forestness!

You have a really clean style - great conveyance of emotion.

Your gorillaz style characters are really well-done as well!

Great Line Work and I like your characters! Reminds me of another artist I came across by the name Andy Runton.

Nice job. I've only looked at the front page of your blog, but I like it better than all the colored stuff.

I concur with rowantree that the details in the hair is very nice. I also like the tree and the spider. Good composition overall which conveys the theme in a most direct manner.

I love this ink! You have wonderful control here, and the black and white create a whole different feel from you color illustrations. I love the hair, the owl, the fabulous leaves,,,the spider..oh, heck...it's all good!

I think the black and white added to the drama in his eyes. His tears make my heart hurt.

very nice job.

'Doesn't look very satisfactory'? It is outstanding! You have impeccable line work. It is amazing clean and yet, well-placed.

Am I right to assume that you are a professional?

Poor cutie boy! he's scary lost! great expression and mood. (lots of scary elements, in so little space!)
I prefer your color illos (great gorilla homages!) But this one has a real good tonal..will be there a color version in a future?
Nice work.

Thanks everyone, for liking my penwork :-) I had fun filling in the shades and lines. Could've done a more detailed job, but I tend to lose interest before finishing a piece ... Working without the computer once in a while makes me realize the efficiencies of drawing and painting digitally, though I do agree there are always some things better done on traditional media.

To answer Chuang's question, I'm not exactly a 'professional'. Have never attended any formal classes, but my work is related to graphics. So I'm not sure if that makes me a pro :-p

To paul and rubio2d, glad you like my Gorillaz attempts too! Don't think I'll win the Motorola ROKR contest though, there are so many other better entries ... well, at least it was fun trying :-)
