Spots - An amateur comic strip

As much as I like to draw, I've always found it astoundingly difficult to do comic strips -- I can't conceptualize and tell stories well. I think the story counts a lot more than the art in good comics; and where great ideas meet great art, that's where truly classic stuff like Calvin & Hobbes are born.

This week's topic on IF had me dig out this old and half-done comic story I did about 10 years ago. It was when I was down with chicken pox that inspiration for the story struck. I thought it must be really awful for a vain pot like Miss Lee to have spots all over her face. The first half of the story was drawn more carefully but I lost steam halfway and just etched the rest roughly. This thing has been sitting in my shelf for a decade, I thought I'd post it up for the heck of it! Let me know what you think :)

Wow, this is great! It has a very original layout and the color of the paper is a nice choice. If you've got trouble with the story aspect, maybe you could collaborate with someone.

You draw very well. I can see that you put a tremendous amount of work into each page.
